Tauma Informed

We are a Trauma Informed Club

This means our full-time program staff are trained to understand how trauma impacts children and teens. We have carefully designed programs and practices to better support their needs, creating an environment that fosters physical, social, and emotional safety. Here are just a few ways we provide this support:

Social Worker: In February 2022, Megan Fischbach started as our Behavioral Health Social Worker at our organization. The primary role of the Behavioral Health Social Worker is to provide social, emotional, and behavioral support as well as strength-based management services for children and families, promoting success within the Boys & Girls Club, school, and community. The Behavioral Health Social Worker is responsible for developing individual service plans in coordination with the organization’s range of services and leveraging relevant community resources and referrals as needed.

Calming Spaces & Academic Support: Our “Zen Den” zones throughout the Club offer a soothing environment for kids to reset, while our Education Center and Project Learn Sites provide targeted academic help in areas like reading and math for children who may be struggling.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL): Children participate in daily SEL programming like Project Positivity, where, through different activities and acts of kindness, our members help them build self-awareness, resilience, and healthy relationships.

Community Partnerships: Collaborations with local organizations, such as the Human Service Agency, Codington County and the Watertown Police Department, provide additional resources and support. Our organization is also a part of the Resilient Community Initiative.

Ongoing Staff Training: Our staff receive continuous education, including training in suicide prevention, ensuring we remain equipped to address the challenges our youth face.

At our Club, we’re dedicated to creating a nurturing, supportive environment where every child can feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.
