Upcoming Teen Special Event: Release of Liability and Waiver
By providing effective outreach and services to teens, the Boys & Girls Club of Watertown helps young people access higher education opportunities; encourage them to pursue future careers; enhance their potential quality of life; and provide them with the tools and support to become productive, responsible and caring citizens of their community, their country and world.
My Club My Life:
This is an online virtual Boys & Girls Club where teens can access content based on existing BGCA life-skills programs. Topics such as successfully applying for a job, healthy-eating habits, tips about excelling in school, saving money and similar topics are intended to help teens make good decisions. In addition, the site stays attuned to teen interests including music, movie and gaming features. For more information, please visit this myclubmylife link.
This leadership club leads Club activities for younger members and participate in community service projects such as Salvation Army Bell Ringing and playing games with residents of the 55+ Dining Program in Watertown. For more information, please visit this Keystone Club link.
Youth of the Year Program:
Established in 1947, Youth of the Year is BGCA’s premier recognition program for Club members, promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. The program is most effective when used as a year-round tool for fostering young people’s character, personal growth and leadership qualities. Local Clubs recognize members ages 14 to 18 as Youth of the Month winners and select a Youth of the Year, who then participates in state competitions. State winners each receive a $1,000 scholarship and participate in regional competitions. Five regional winners each receive a $10,000 scholarship and compete on the national level. The National Youth of the Year receives up to an additional $50,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States. For more information, please visit this Youth of the Year link.
Robotics may seem daunting, but the Robo Tech program, for members ages 6 to 13, is an easy and fun way to explore science, technology, engineering and math. For more information, please visit this Robo Tech link.
